The Tomato-Potato Plant Web Site
And...The Amazing 5 in 1 Fruit Cocktail Tree

The Tomato-Potato Plant

After successfully planting, growing and harvesting tomatoes and potatoes from our Tomato-Potato Plant, last year, I went to the World Wide Web to see if I could get more information on this phenomenal, and certainly unique, wonder of the plant kingdom. I did not find a single site devoted to this wonderful plant, a plant that gave us juicy plump tomatoes in summer and a harvest of potatoes in the fall.

My wife, Martha, and I were, of course, heart-broken. There was no one in the whole world with whom we could share the joy of having successfully raised our Tomato-Potato plant.

Why we put up this page…

We wanted to see if anyone else - anyone in the whole world - could share with us the joy of having successfully planted, nurtured, talked-to and harvested the fruits/vegetables/tubers from the Tomato-Potato plant.

Success...we get news...

One of the problems with the amazing Tomato-Potato plant has been where to get them. Well, thanks to a couple of very astute readers, we have some sources.

1. chavaloca@webtv.net provided this information: In the Michigan Bulb Co.'s  "Spring'98 Garden Spectacular, They advertise the "Amazing Tomato Potato"  at a cost of $5.99 each or 3 for $15.96.  The description reads as follows:

You simply won't believe your eyes! This amazing variety actually grows Tomatoes and Potatoes from the same plant! The Tomato is the "Sub-Arctic" variety noted for its
tastiness and extra-early harvest. The Potato is the "Red Pontiac", known for its good eating and storage qualities.  How is it possible? Tomatoes and Potatoes are members of the same family. And this special graft captures the best of both. 2-1/4 " pot.  Not available in MT.

The item number is #03178
The address is    Michigan Bulb Company
                             1950 Waldorf N.W., P.O. Box 140647
                             Grand Rapids, MI 49514-0647

2. Wayne Medearis also reported to us via email. This is what he had to say:

So far, I have located the web page for Spring River Nurseries showing the Tomato-Potato for sale. Their phone number is 1, 616 621-2259, Mon.-Fri. 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST.

Their grafts cost $6.98 for one, $10.98 for 2, $12.98 for 3, and $14.98 for 4.

If you have any information on this amazing plant, please send us email, and we will add it to this site, home of the WWW's source for Tomato-Potato Plant news you can use.
