DEAR DEBBIE

Con't. It's always nice to hear from my old New Yawker friends, but you guys have a big problem, Hillary. Run her keister out of there! God knows y'all have enough worms in your Big Apple as it is! Heck, Arkansas wouldn't even take her back, and nobody else in the South wants her either! If y'all really want to make the evening news, then tell her, "New York don't want her neither!" I'm counting on y'all. Hey Hillary, we all know you're gonna leave Bill when he's finished wrecking our country, so what kind of agenda do you want to continue for us village people?

Dear Debbie Why is there such a problem among blacks and whites in the South and why can't they get along? E.S.- Oshkosh, WI

Dear E.S. - That is a great question and one that I am very eager to answer. The problem is our media! For instance, in my local Shreveport paper, all they emphasize is the negative, when it comes to this issue. I know many fine black people in my community, and when I talk with them or I am involved with them in some capacity, we don't have a problem with each other.

For one thing, we need to forget about color. Our brains are indoctrinated full of this mush and that everyone has to have a color label on them! Take for example: I introduce you to one of my friends who happens to be black. Not full-blown black, mind you, perhaps more on the brown-white side. Maybe we should just put labels on our backs like cans, because the media doesn't think we all know the difference. I've talked with people all over this country, and I'm very weary of the image our illustrious media tries to portray on race relations, here in the

THE STEWART REPORT
Con't. The majority of American people, including myself, was spellbound by the magic of the movie "Titanic". But allow me to take you on a ride to the more realistic side of that liner and how it’s fate parallels our country.

On the fateful night of April 14, 1912, the "unsinkable" Titanic hit an iceberg and sank to the bottom of the North Atlantic. A tragic, though often untold story about that night concerns a man on another ship, less than 20 miles away. That other vessel was the Californian, and it could have come to the rescue of the sinking liner, if only someone had been awake and listening. But the radio operator had fallen asleep on duty.

Portrait 2000
(From Portrait 2000) - Well, organizers in Shreveport and Bossier City, Louisiana, are thrilled to report that final details of this public art grand experiment are being completed at this writing. Plans for the community-wide exhibit of the results are almost complete and the computer catalog/"book", the CD-ROM, will be unveiled this week! No, not all 300,000 people were photographed--"only" 2,000. But people from every corner and strata of the two sister cities were included and the number of individual participants is so large that the organizers hope to have created what will essentially be a collective portrait of a large community, both for now and for descendants of this community many years from now. At this point, it appears PORTRAIT 2000, with its ambition and scope, is a millennium project unique to America and probably the world.

A TASTE OF LOUISIANA
First, let's stop in Shreveport, to visit Northwest La. It's a great place to raise a family, and WOW are we ever growing! Shreveport was named one of the Top 10 All-American Cities. And many thanks to our mayor, Keith Hightower, his staff and to many of the "Representatives of the people of Shreveport", in helping to make this a reality!
